Chhotaudepur Is A Tribal District. The Natives (Tribals) Of Chhotaudepur Are Called Rathva. The Name Comes From Their Old Residence Area, Which Was Called Rath. Rathwa Population In All The Talukas Of Chhotaudepur And Also In Panchmahal District. Their Dialect Is Called Rathvi. They Also

Rathwa Worships Many Gods And Goddesses, But Baba Pithora Is The Chief Deity Of The Rathwa Community, And Painting Is Done In Houses To Please Him. It Is Painted On Three Walls Inside The Rathwa Houses. They Believe That Doing This Painting Brings Peace And Prosperity To The Home. They Use The Composition Of Tigers, Camels, Elephants Etc. On The Walls Of Their Houses. They Have Their Own Folk Songs And Folk-Tales. Folk Songs Are Sung During The Wedding Ceremony. During Festivals And Weddings They Dance And Enjoy Music.

The Main Festivals Of The Rathwa Community Are Holi, Divaso, Dussehra, Dev-Diwali And Akhatrij. The Cultural Diversity Of The Tribals Can Be Seen During The Fair: Telav Mata Melo In Pavijatpur, Gher Melo In Kwant, Melo In Dungarwat, Zooj, Raisingpur, Chhota Udepur, Amarol.

In Chhotaudepur There Is A Weekly Market Called Hat. The Hats Meet The Needs Of Most Of The Tribes. Every Day Of The Week There Is A Haat At Different Places In The Areas Around Chhota Udepur. The Hut Is Also A Gathering Place For Relatives And Friends. Items Such As Clothing, Vegetables, Cereals And Livestock, Bows And Arrows, Jewelry, Bamboo Articles, Cooking Utensils Are Sold In The Haat.
